About his appearance... eh, he's attractive, INDEED..
Handosome and smart. His face is always covered by an arrogant smile that at the first sight let him looks like an angel. Knowing him, he reveals himself as a crazy, choleric and disturbated person.
Haimura-sensei said that when he drew Kakine, he wanted to create someone that seemed a combination of a bishounen from a host club, a rookie and a yakuza. Also, he wanted to give him a vulgar style to dress, but I adore Kakine's clothes~

Another thing that I have to say is that he's awesome working with mechanical technology and we can see this peculiarity in his Tweezer, the glove that he stolen and modified, creating a deadly and useful weapon to fight and investigate.

His reasons to fight are unknown and we can't understand them, but we can say for sure that he's not the kind of person that kicks someone just for fun. He's a crazy, but not totally evil, I think we can say he's desperated and totally deluded by life.
Kakine hates kids and people that believes in good feelings and happiness, and surely that's because he had a life similar to the one of Accelerator, rich of sadness... that made him evil and cinic, a nihilist too.
But he's not totally evil, because he saves Kinuhata's life. And he leaves to escape hamazura and Takitsubo, that was about dying because of the use of her Body Crystal.
And it's not over... because he esxplains to Hamazura what Body Crystal is, so Hamazura becomes able to save his Takitsubo and escape with her.

In the New Testaments we finally find the truth about Kakine's schizofrenic personality, and we can see his kind side, that he shows finally saving something instead of destoying something.
