Kanroji is a cute and kind girl with a super human strength.

Her special muscular constitution is eight times the one of a normal man, and even if she her body looks like the one of a normal girl, she has the strength of a wrestler. Her appetite is huge too (the biggest of the series), and in fact, she can eat even 100 dango sticks. Despite this, her biggest dream has always been to be a bride, but because of her brutal strength and the weird color of her hair (becoming pink and green because she ate too much sakuramochi) no one wanted to take her.
She even tried to dye her hair and hide her strength to appear weak, but then realized that this way to be would never bring her the real happiness, because no one would never love her for who she really was.

So she decided to join the Demon Slayer Corps and become a Hashira, secretly hoping to find a place to be free to live as herself and to meet someone stronger than her, able to love her as the real herself.
She was coached by Rengoku and she had so much fun working with him, starting to think of Rengoku as a "kakkoii onii-sama" (cool big brother)! She created the Love Breathing style from the Flame one that Rengoku taught her, and once her apprenticeship has finished, she became the Love Hashira.
So her sensei became now a comrade, and to congratulate Mitsuri, Rengoku gifted her a haori matching with his one, and Kanroji was so happy of that present!

Once she became a Hashira she found happiness with comrades, kohai and all the people she met, but unluckily (again) they started to die one after another, so she started to feel descouraged and sadder day by day. Anyway, she became especially friend with Kocho, and she loved talking with Himejima about cats, that both of them loved. Also, she was so close with Rengoku that she even bonded with Senjuro, his little brother.

These feelings and bonds were important for Kanroji, but above all, meeting Iguro meant to her meeting that fated person, because the two of them fell in love at the first sight. Unluckily, since both of them had terrible experiences behind, they never confess to each other until the very last moment... but the time they spent together was beautiful and fun, because they found the real happiness in each other, and also a way to love themselves and feel normal.

With the development of the story Kanroji helps Tanjiro and the others to fight the Upper Moons and Muzan, and in the final fight she gives all herself to kill him, ending up losing both her arms.
Iguro tried to protect her until the very end, but he was badly injured too, and she dies in Iguro's arms confessing to him and asking to be taken as his wife if in their next life, if they were reborn as humans.
Obanai accepts, and at the end of the story we see them owning a restaurant and being happily married, with five kids!
