Iguro is a very complicated character, because his life was a hell since his birth.

He was the first male in a family that had all women for generations, but once his mother gave birth to him, he was locked up in a cell, where he grew up until he was 12.
Iguro spent his childhood full of attentions by his sisters and aunts, but there was no happiness in his life.
Not much time passes since he discovered that his one was a family of thieves and bad people that even sold their own children to a snake female demon to have favors from her.
And when he was born, that demon saw how particular that child was, and waited for him to grow more for eating him at the best condition, but the truth is that because of his isolation in that cell, Iguro grew badly, and his body was small and with a poor healt. Also, his left eye was bad since his born, so he had no good sight from it (sigh... poor child...).

His only friend was a little snake that escaped and he found near his cell, and that kept with him called him Kaburamaru. In fact, it was thanks to Kaburamaru if Iguro ever had a friend in the worst moments of his life, and their bond was so deep that with the time he learned how talk to him and how understand him (it's the same for Kaburamaru).

One time Iguro succeeded to escape, but once the demon found it, she killed all his family for revenge. Thank goodness Iguro was saved by the Flame Hashira (that that time was Rengoku's father) and menaged to escape. The Flame Hashira tried to give custody of him to the only uncle of Iguro that survived the tragedy, but she totally refused to take care of the child because she considered him a disgrace and the reason why every one in the family died. She said he was the assassin, and even if her words were totally wrong and mean, Iguro started to feel the dirt of this blood and his faults, assuming that it was all because of his dirty blood that his life will always be cursed by death.

So he grew hating women and even more demons, and decided to become a Hashira to kill them to feel a little bit better, because using his life to save people was the only thing that kept him alive.
It was until the moment in which he met Kanroji, and that was love at the first sight. She was the only woman and person in the universe that made him feel like a normal guy, but his dirty blood and the curse of his family was still there, so Iguro thought that he'll never confess to her... maybe in another life. And that's almost the way it is, eh.

He thought with all himself to kill demons and sacrified everything to kill Muzan.
About this... His resistance was incredible. He was still alive after a bite that he got in his head to protect Tanjiro, and even with poison and losing his eyesight, he was still able to fight until the end, also trying to protect Kanroji. Unluckily, he was not able to save her because in the end she died in his arms, but they confessed eventually and she asked him to take her as his wife in their next lives (if they were reborn as humans).

Maybe Iguro was not able to save Kanroji's body, but he surely saved her soul because he said her beautiful things that made her understand how much he was in love... and how much she was in love herself too. And then... In their next life they reborn as humans and got married! They also had 5 sons and owned a restaurant with snake decorations and extra-large portions of food!
They were so happy, and I am glad that Iguro was finally happy of himself, as the last Gotoge-sensei's sketchs show!
