ABOUT HIM

At the begin of the series Manami is a first year student, but because of his incredible abilities with bike, he's a regular member of Hakone Gakuen. His number is 6.
He loves mountains and nature (his name means "mountain", eheheh!) and his favorite thing is riding on Hakone mountain.
He looks like an easygoing person, but he's not like that. His kind personality truly is just quiet, and it same that he always has his head on the clouds.
Manami is a smiling person but his face doesn't reflects his real personality, because he can be very serious and crazy if the situation becomes serious.
That's the case of the first Inter-High, when he's going to become mad at the third day, revealing his rough personality and the most insane side of himself.

He was a sick and weak child, but thanks to bicycles he became a strong guy able to overtake his illness.
Since it's because of bikes that he found again the will to live (in his own concept of "suffering and hearing my heart beating and hurting is the way I feel alive"), he always do his best to climb with all the strength and the heart, with the pure desire to feel the high pressure of life on himself.

So, when he rides on the mountain it seems he has white wings on his back, that make him look like an angel. Anyway, he's everything but an angel.
He's obsessed with bikes and riding, he's obsessed with the mountain and there is nothing he loves more than feeling alive. That's the reason why he becomes Onoda's friend at once, after their first meeting. And they promise theyselves to meet again at Inter-High to challenge each other in a battle of climbers.

Manami usually is quiet with everyone, but there are a few people he consider like a friend, and Onoda is who Manami considers the one that can complete himself.
Sakamichi means hill, and Manami loves his name so much that he starts to call Onoda by name since the first moment.
Hills and mountains have a bound, haven't they? So the ones who possess these names are bounded too, from the bottom of the heart! Their relation is a bit like the one of Makishima and Toudou, that are friends and best rivals. Or at least, it's like this that I can see it. Because both of them are first years and they have three years to develop their relation friends/rivals at the best.

Speaking of things that Manami likes, he's good with games, but he prefers ride. To say a truth, he used to play games in his childhood, when he was sick and his only way to spend the time was playing with a console. But now it's different, totally different. He loves nature and interact with it more than everything else, that's why he doesn't care of be late at school or such. He spends amost all his time on the mountain, and studying is his last thought! XD
