Gino is introducted in Shin Captain Tsubasa (the second part of the manga) when Tsubasa and the others have to face the Italy team in the national competition.
His personality was high and mighty, and even if he's the ace and the captain of his team, he treated his opponents like someone that has no idea of what a field is.
Unluckily for him, Tsubasa teach to the Italy a real lesson about Japanese's players and skills, and Gino is costrincted to admit that Japan is not that bad as he thought.

After that moment, we find him again in Captain Tsubasa J, in the Inter team, in the arc dedicated to Aoi Shingo.
Here Gino is not arrogant like the begin, he's a quiet and kind person, the only one ready to help and to be friend of Shingo, that's considered as an inferior player by his Italian comrades.

Thanks to Gino's suggestions (for Shingo and for his comrades), Shingo proved to the other how great he's and the Inter accpets him like comrade.
